Dingle Peninsula Sustainable Mobility Pathfinder Survey

“Your Journey Counts – Scaip an Scéal!”

Everyone who calls the Dingle Peninsula home, their second home or just a place they love to visit can be in with a chance of winning an electric bike or a 2kW solar PV system – simply by taking part in a survey.

“Tá do thuras-sa tábhachtach – Scaip an Scéal!”

Is féidir le gach duine a ghlaonn baile nó tarna bhaile ar Chorca Dhuibhne, nó díreach gur bhreá leo turas a thabhairt ann go minic, a bheith istigh le seans chun rothar leictreach nó córas 2kW painéil ghréine PV a bhuachaint, díreach trí pháirt a ghlacadh i suirbhé.

Dingle Hub, in conjunction with Corca Dhuibhne Community Forum, wants to give people more choice on how they get around the Dingle Peninsula. It’s part of a Government initiative, supported by Kerry County Council, to lower emissions, combat climate change and improve safety on our roads.

Project leader, Deirdre de Bhailís, of Dingle Hub says community involvement is crucial and this is why she is asking everyone to be involved by participating in the survey.

Deirdre explains: “This is part of the Corca Dhuibhne National Sustainable Mobility Pathfinder project which aims to identify and advocate for easy, affordable, and integrated travel options that suit everyone’s needs in a rural area.

“Your participation on this survey will help shape the design of viable options to reduce our dependency on private cars.

“It will also help cut emissions supporting climate action goals and help to improve quality of life for everyone on the peninsula,” Deirdre said.

The survey has been developed and will be analysed by a team of UCD researchers working on the transport strand of the Next Generation Energy Systems (NexSys) programme.

The Pathfinder project was developed following the successful introduction of initiatives such the TFI Local Link Kerry bus services. The services were developed in consultation with Dingle Peninsula Tourism Alliance and several other local partners and were used over 46,000 times last year, bringing people of all ages to work, to shop, to meet friends, and explore the peninsula without needing a car.

“The survey will inform how we can expand on the success of these, but participation is vital, and every journey really does count,” Deirdre added.

“We are delighted to have Solar Beo on board as a partner who have generously sponsored our fabulous prize of either an electric bike or a 2kW Solar PV system for your home,” she said.

Managing Director of Solar Beo, Ciarán Murphy, said they were delighted to support such a worthwhile project.

Solar Beo are specialist domestic, commercial, and agricultural contractors in solar PV, battery management systems and EV charging units.

“Our company is all about helping people make the transition to renewable energy and we have seen firsthand the potential saving that solar PV panels can offer our customers while also reducing their carbon footprint” Ciarán said.

“We are thrilled to give our support to the Dingle Peninsula Pathfinder Project which is perfectly aligned with our ethos and will make a big difference to people’s quality of life, those living here and our very welcome visitors,” he added.

Suirbhé Ceannródaíoch Soghluaisteachta Inmharthana Chorca Dhuibhne

“Tá do thuras-sa tábhachtach – Scaip an Scéal!”

Is féidir le gach duine a ghlaonn baile nó tarna bhaile ar Chorca Dhuibhne, nó díreach gur bhreá leo turas a thabhairt ann go minic, a bheith istigh le seans chun rothar leictreach nó córas 2kW painéil ghréine PV a bhuachaint, díreach trí pháirt a ghlacadh i suirbhé.

Ba mhaith le Dingle Hub, i gcomhpháirt le Fóram Pobail Chorca Dhuibhne, níos mó rogha a thabhairt do dhaoine ó thaobh na slite atá acu chun taisteal timpeall Chorca Dhuibhne. Tá seo ina chuid de thionscnamh Rialtais, le tacaíocht ó Chomhairle Contae Chiarraí, atá ag iarraidh astaíochtaí a laghdú, dul i ngleic leis an athrú aeráide, agus feabhas a chur ar shábháilteacht ar ár mbóithre.

Deireann Ceannaire an tionscadail, Deirdre de Bhailís, ó Dingle Hub, go bhfuil rannpháirtíocht an phobail san iarracht seo riachtanach, agus ar an mbonn sin go bhfuil sí ag iarraidh ar gach éinne a bheith ina chuid de trína bheith páirteach sa suirbhé.

‘Sea míníonn Deirdre: “Is cuid é seo de thionscadal Náisiúnta Ceannródaíoch Soghluaisteachta Inmharthana Chorca Dhuibhne, go bhfuil sé d’aidhm aige roghanna taistil atá saoráideach, inacmhainne agus comhtháite a oireann do riachtanais gach éinne i gceantar tuaithe a aithint agus a chur chun cinn.

“Cabhróidh do rannpháirtíocht sa suirbhé seo chun roghanna inmharthana a laghdóidh ar ár spleáchas ar chairteacha príobháideacha a mhúnlú agus a dhearadh.

”Anuas air sin, cabhróidh sé chun astaíochtaí a laghdú, ag tacú le cuspóirí athrú aeráide a bhaint amach agus chun feabhas a chur ar chaighdeán beatha gach éinne ar an leithinis.”

Tá an suirbhé forbartha agus déanfar é a anailísiú ag foireann taighdeoirí UCD atá ag obair ar shnáithe iompair an chláir um Chórais Fuinnimh na Chéad Ghlúin Eile (NexSys).

Forbraíodh an tionscadal Pathfinder tar éis tionscnamh mar sheirbhísí bus Nasc Áitiúil Chiarraí TFI a thabhairt isteach. Tugadh isteach iad seo i gcomhairle le Comhaontas Turasóireachta Chorca Dhuibhne agus roinnt comhpháirtithe áitiúla eile agus baineadh úsáid astu níos mó ná 46,000 uair anuraidh, ag tabhairt daoine de gach aois chun oibre, chun siopadóireacht a dhéanamh, chun bualadh le cairde, agus ag taiscéaladh an leithinis gan gá le carr.

”Beidh tionchar ag an suirbhé ar ár dtuiscintí faoi chonas leathnú a dheanamh ar na seirbhísí rathúla seo, ach ní oibreoidh sé gan rannpháirtíocht an phobail, agus is fíor go mbaineann gach turas le hábhar,” arsa Deirdre.

”Táimid fíorshásta go bhfuil Solar Beo ar bord linn mar phairtnéar atá ag déanamh urraíocht ar ár nduais iontach de rothar leictreach nó córas 2kW painéil ghréine PV don mbaile,” ar sí.

Dúirt Stiúrthóir bainistíóchta Solar Beo, Ciarán Murphy, go rabhadar thar a bheith sásta urraíocht a dhéanamh ar thionscadal chomh fiúntach leis an gceann seo.

Is conraitheoirí saineolacha baile, tráchtála agus talmhaíochta iad Solar Beo timpeall ar phainéil gréine PV, córais bainistiú cadhnraí, agus aonaid luchtála d’fheithiclí leictreacha.

‘Sea dúirt Ciarán: ”Thar aon rud eile, tá ár gcomhlacht dírithe ar chabhrú le daoine an t-aistriú a dhéanamh go fuinneamh inathnuaite, agus táimid tar éis a fheiscint lenár súile féin an oiread airgid agus is féidir le painéil ghréine PV a shábháil d’ár gcustaiméirí, fad is laghdaíonn siad ar a rian carbóin ag an am céanna.”

”Tá lúcháir orainn a bheith ag tabhairt tacaíocht do Thionscadal Ceannródaíoch Chorca Dhuibhne atá ag teacht go hiomlán lenár meon féin, agus a déanfaidh difríocht mhór do chaighdeán beatha daoine, idir iadsan a chónaíonn anseo agus ár gcuairteoirí go bhfuil na múrtha fáilte rompu.” arsa Ciarán.

Le páirt a ghlacadh sa suirbhé agus a bheith istigh le seans chun an duais a bhuachaint, tabhair cuairt ar www.dinglehub.com/projects/sustainability/transport (daoine os cionn 18 amháin). Dáta dúnta, 30ú Meitheamh 2024
