West Kerry Food Futures has been awarded a €750,000 state grant from the national Creative Climate Action Fund. The grant money will help the group pursue a project that brings creative practitioners together with local food producers to re-imagine the region’s food economy. The project is one of only a handful nationwide to be granted the full project funding amount.
The key idea behind the project is to explore creative ways to connect local food producers with the local market, reducing costs and the environmental impact of shipping food products to long-distance customers. Coming together, local food producers can share operating and administrative costs, and can work together to market and sell their produce locally.
