In celebration of, and to raise awareness of World Sand Dune, Neart Na Machairí held a full day of public talks and walks on the ecology of sand dune habitats and how the Maharees Conservation Association and other community groups have been working to support nature-based solutions to coastal challenges. Speakers included Dr. Eugene Farrell (NUIG), Monica Kane (ecologist), William Hunt (NPWS), Sally Griffin (MTU), Aidan O’Connor (MCA), Martha Farrell (MCA), Patricia Brown (MCA), Jeanne Spillane (MCA), Martin Lynch (MCA) and Huw Roberts (MCA).
