Neart Na Machairí was launched on May 24, 2024 with a gathering in the Maharees Green Room to an audience of around 60 members of the local community. During this event, the three embedded artists, Emer Fallon, Silke Michels and Zoë Uí Fhaolaín Green, explored what people love about the Maharees with an interactive hand-painted map of the tombolo, while the Steering Group laid out their aims and hopes for this creative climate project. Eight locals signed up on the night to participate in the project as ‘community partners.’
