ENERGY MASTER PLAN
Baseline Energy Balance, Renewable Energy Potential and Register of Opportunities
The Dingle Hub has established a Dingle Sustainable Energy Community (SEC) and all interested members of the public are most welcome to join this community to help support the transition to a low carbon society of the future. The initial stage is a Dingle Peninsula Energy Master Plan with whom we have worked closely with MaREI researchers and energy consultants to carry out this work. They have determined how much energy we are currently using and provided us with an energy efficiency roadmap for the Peninsula. The headline numbers are that we are currently using 315GWh of energy at a cost of €37M per annum and this equates to almost 90 ktonnes of CO2. A combination of energy efficiency measures and renewable energy projects have to potential to save up to €8M per annum of this cost while at the same time significantly reducing our carbon footprint. The graphics below illustrate some of the key findings and the full report will be published here in early 2020.
