Comhghairdeachas le Rang 2020! Ó Choláiste Íde, Phobalscoil Chorca Dhuibhne agus Mheánscoil Nua an Leith-Triúigh, bhí bliain dhúshlánach agaibh ach is mór an rud é teacht go dtí an phointe seo – maith sibh! Congratulations Class of 2020! It’s been such a challenging year for you all and this week brings important milestones. Well done for reaching this point. We hope the path you choose leads you to achieving your potential and we have no doubt that the resilience you have developed this year will serve you well. We’d love to stay connected with you all – you are the people who may want to build your future careers and businesses from the Dingle Peninsula. You can register for our Youth Community (see links on advert in this issue) or follow us on social media to stay up to date with events, projects and opportunities. Go n-éirí an bóthar libh go léir agus fanaigí i dteagmháil linn!

On Culture Night on 18th September 2020, we’re delighted to be hosting a performance by two local artists Silke Michels and Maggie Breen. The performance, which will be live-streamed from our office, explores freedom and isolation in a two metre square. Can freedom be found within these boundaries? This multi-disciplinary piece is part of ongoing work exploring our connections to closeness, our experiences of distancing and looks at what isolation means and how it affects us. The work is grounded in the personal experiences of the artists and captures how they each navigate these elements through movement and spoken word in their native languages – Irish, German and English.

Léiriú a dhéanann iniúchadh ar saoire agus ar uaigneas i limistéir cearnóige dhá mhéadar cearnach. An féidir saoirse a bhraistint istigh sna teorainneacha seo? Is mar chuid d’oibre leanúnach é an píosa seo, a dhéanann iniúchadh ar ár nasc do chóngaracht, ár dtaithí ar a bheith scartha ó dhaoine, chomh maith le iargúltacht agus conas a théann sé i bhfeidhm orainn. Tá tionchar mór ag taithí pearsanta na n-ealaíontóirí; taispeánann an obair seo conas a dhéanann siad a mbealach tríd trí mheáin gluaiseachta agus focail i dteangacha dúchasacha na n-ealaíontóirí – Gaolainn, Gearmáinis, Béarla.
