XD Sustainable Energy Consulting and Partners beat off stiff competition with an impressive pitch for the tender last week that clearly highlighted their wide-ranging technical and local expertise. The team are Xavier Dubuisson, energy engineer, Tim Clarke, bioenergy expert, Sarah Kandrot, spatial analysis expert, Donncha Ó Ceilleachair, local farmer and community champion, David Wall, UCC lecturer, and Dónal Ó Céilleachair, energy engineering student at UCC. We very much look forward to working with them on this project and hope to unlock the potential for anaerobic digestion to address environmental issues, contribute towards our energy independence and provide a sustainable revenue stream for the local farming community of the Dingle Peninsula. Work will begin on this study in the coming weeks and there will be regular and thorough consultation with the community throughout the course of the project.
Congratulations to Muireann de Hóra, one of the Dingle Hub’s Young Advisory Board members, who has been selected for a unique opportunity for overseas research this summer at the University of Notre Dame in the US. Muireann will take part in a ten week internship program called a Research Experience for Undergraduates and will work on a research project entitled “Nanoelectronic Devices and Circuits”. Only a select number of Irish students are offered this opportunity and her selection is further evidence of the calibre of young people that will shape the future of this Peninsula. Well done Muireann and we hope you have a great experience!
