The Role

Dingle Hub invites applications from suitably qualified candidates who wish to be considered for inclusion on a panel from which the role of Project Coordinator for the Creative Coastal Resilience project will be filled.

The Creative Coastal Resilience Project Coordinator will be responsible for consulting with stakeholders and community representatives for the development, implementation and delivery of the Creative Coastal Resilience Project.

Summary of Role

The project will facilitate a Project Coordinator and an Embedded Artist to work closely together, and with the Maharees community, to address the following aims:

  1. To build on and amplify the work already done on developing an appreciation of the environmental sensitivity and biodiversity value of coastal areas among the visiting and resident communities to create a love of place that will drive behavioural change to lessen impacts on coastal biodiversity.
  2. To bring about a deeper understanding among the visiting and resident communities of Maharees with regard to the future impacts of climate change on the Maharees tombolo and on the role that the management of coastal dunes will play in achieving climate resilience with a view to effecting behavioural change and facilitate place-based adaptation.
  3. To support other coastal communities by developing a template and/or guidelines for the most effective approaches and communications to drive behaviour change for the benefit of the coastal environment.
  4. To sustain and embed the high levels of volunteerism established within Maharees Conservation Association and to activate regenerative tourism in the area

The location for working purposes will be within the Dingle Peninsula. Office space will be available at Dingle Hub and project activities will be based on the Maharees. Flexibility allows for part work at home, but must allow for majority of time on Maharees and engaging with the community.

Ceapfaidh an tionscadal Comhordaitheoir Tionscadail agus Ealaíontóir Neadaithe le bheith ag obair go dlúth lena chéile agus le pobal na Machairí, chun freagairt do na cuspóirí seo a leanas:

  1. Tógáil ar, agus cur leis, an obair atá déanta cheana féin ó thaobh feasacht a mhéadú maidir le híogaireacht timpeallachta agus luach bithéagsúlachta limistéar cósta i measc cuairteoirí agus áitritheoirí araon, chun ómós áite a chothú a thiomáinfidh athruithe iompair mar shlí chun tionchar diúltach ar bhithéagsúlacht an chósta a laghdú.
  2. Tuiscint níos doimhne a chruthú i measc cuairteoirí agus áitritheoirí na Machairí araon maidir le tionchar athrú aeráide amach anseo ar thombóló na Machairí agus an ról a bheidh ag bainistíocht chuí ar dhúmhaí cois cósta timpeall ar acmhainneacht aeráide, le súil athruithe iompair a ghríosadh agus oiriúnú áit-bhunaithe a éascú.
  3. Tacú le pobail eile cois cósta trí mhúnla agus/nó treoirlínte a fhorbairt ó thaobh an cur chuige agus na modhanna cumarsáide is éifeachtaí chun athruithe iompair a thiomáint ar mhaithe na timpeallachta cois cósta.
  4. An leibhéal ard oibre deonaí i ngníomhaíocht chaomhnaithe sna Machairí a bhuanú agus a dhaingniú, agus turasóireacht athghiniúnach sa cheantar a spreagadh.
